From Lotus Driver to Arrows Founder

Jackie Oliver raced in Formula One between 1967 and 1977, finishing third twice, and went on to found the Arrows team.

Born in Chadwell Heath, Jackie Oliver came up through saloon car racing and made his Formula One debut with Lotus at the 1967 German Grand Prix. He drove for Lotus through 1968 and finished third at the Mexican Grand Prix at the end of that season.

He spent 1969 and 1970 with BRM, made a few starts for McLaren in 1971, and joined Shadow for 1973, when he took a second third place at the Canadian Grand Prix. His last start came for Shadow at the 1977 Swedish Grand Prix, his 50th. In endurance racing he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1969, and from 1978 to 1996 he was a cofounder and team principal of Arrows.
