Dorino Serafini

Racecar driver

One Race, One Podium

Dorino Serafini finished second in his only World Championship race, the 1950 Italian Grand Prix, sharing his Ferrari with Alberto Ascari.

Born in Pesaro, Dorino Serafini started racing motorcycles in 1928 and won the 1939 500cc European Championship on a Gilera, with victories in the German, Swedish and Ulster Grands Prix. After the war he turned to cars.

His only World Championship race came at the 1950 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, where he started sixth in a Ferrari and shared the car with Alberto Ascari, finishing second. That makes him the only driver to have finished on the podium in every championship race he entered. Serious injuries in the 1951 Mille Miglia ended his full time racing career. He died in 2000.
