Carlos Sainz Jr. moved through Toro Rosso, Renault and McLaren before winning four Grands Prix for Ferrari, then joined Williams in 2025.

Carlos Sainz Jr. was born in Madrid, Spain, on September 1, 1994, the son of the two time World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz. He left karting for single seaters in 2010, won the Formula Renault NEC title in 2011, raced Formula 3 with Carlin in 2012 and GP3 in 2013, and in 2014 won the Formula Renault 3.5 Series with DAMS.

A Red Bull junior since 2010, he made his Formula 1 debut for Toro Rosso at the 2015 Australian Grand Prix, starting his career alongside Max Verstappen. Late in 2017 he moved to Renault, and in 2019 he joined McLaren, where he took his first podium at the Brazilian Grand Prix that year and another at the 2020 Italian Grand Prix.

Ferrari signed him for 2021 to partner Charles Leclerc. In 2022 he earned his first pole position and first win at the 2022 British Grand Prix. He won the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix, then in 2024 won the Australian and Mexico City Grands Prix in his final Ferrari season, as Lewis Hamilton was arriving to take his seat.

Sainz joined Williams for 2025 beside Alexander Albon and scored podiums for the team at the Azerbaijan and Qatar Grands Prix that year. Through the 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix our record shows 244 starts, 4 wins, 6 pole positions, 4 fastest laps and 29 podiums across 12 seasons, with Toro Rosso, Renault, McLaren, Ferrari and Williams. He is contracted to Williams until at least the end of 2027.
