Andrea Kimi Antonelli

Italian F1 driver

Mercedes' teenage winner

Kimi Antonelli stepped into Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes seat at 18 and in his second season became a regular winner as the team led the field.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli was born in Bologna, Italy, on August 25, 2006, the son of the sports car driver Marco Antonelli. He won the senior European karting championship in 2020 and 2021, and in 2022 he took both the Italian and ADAC F4 titles with Prema. He followed that with the Formula Regional European and Middle East championships, then moved to FIA Formula 2 in 2024, winning two races and finishing sixth.

A member of the Mercedes Junior Team since 2019, he was chosen to replace Lewis Hamilton alongside George Russell for 2025. His debut at the 2025 Australian Grand Prix, aged 18, made him the third youngest driver ever to start a Formula 1 race. Later that season he scored his first podium at the Canadian Grand Prix and became the youngest driver to set a fastest lap.

New rules for 2026 put Mercedes at the front, and Antonelli has made the most of it. He won the 2026 Chinese Grand Prix for his first victory and then won in Japan, Miami, Canada and Monaco. He added the Belgian Grand Prix and, at Monza, his home race, the Italian Grand Prix, followed a week later by the Spanish Grand Prix. Along the way he became the youngest driver to lead the championship.

Through the 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix our record shows 39 starts and 15 podiums across two seasons, all with Mercedes. He holds several age records in the sport, including youngest driver to lead a lap, and he is contracted to Mercedes until at least the end of 2027.

0 world titles, 8 wins, 6 pole positions, 39 starts.
