From Touring Car Champion to Grand Prix Points

Andrea de Adamich raced in Formula One between 1968 and 1973, scoring all his points with fourth places for Surtees and Brabham.

Born in Trieste, Andrea de Adamich won the Italian Formula Three Championship in 1965 and two European Touring Car titles with Alfa Romeo. Ferrari gave him his World Championship debut at the 1968 South African Grand Prix.

He later drove McLaren and March cars powered by Alfa Romeo engines, often struggling to qualify in 1970. With Surtees in 1972 he finished fourth at the Spanish Grand Prix, and in 1973 he repeated the result in Belgium with Brabham. His last race was the 1973 British Grand Prix, after 30 starts from 36 entries. He later became a television commentator and died in 2025.
